Hi everyone,
I have a FOWLR 4 foot tank running about 4 months. Everything ok but just need a bit of advice on circulation. Tank is run off a Prizm skimmer, Eheim external and a strong powerhead turned down very low.

Should I aim my powerhead at the back, front, ?? should i detach my inlet spraybar and just have the water pushing towars the LR. I have seen some posts about high, low circulation, figure of eight, etc

they have totally confused me, mind you, my LR is doing ok ie: little dusters, branches, couple of mushrooms.

Any help would be great.

Dave

Basicly you want to eliminate dead spots. I use 3 small power heads in my tank which is also a 4' tank

Yes, it's a Eheim Professional 2026, at present it only has Carbon sheet and a bit of biological media. As soon as I have put lots more LR in the tank I will probably just use the Eheim for circulation and a bit of carbon.

even though it is a FO setup, and the Eheim Professional 2026 is made for 90g's and smaller, i think a bit more flow is desired. i would try opening your restriction valve to allow for more circulation. how you have it positioned now is ok, but i personally would aim the flow a bit up, and either to the front or back of the tank. by doing this you can create a broad circle of circulation.

certain types of fish do well in chaotic, as well a laminar flow...
