A friend is visiting Korea for three weeks and my wife and I are babysitting his two Conures (small parrots). They are really cool.

The yellow orange one is a Sun Conure, the green one is a Green Cheek Conure.
They are really playful and crave attention. Still getting used to the poo though.

Wow, either that is a really small sun, or a really big green cheek. I've got a green cheek. He's like a little pit bull. Maybe a friend like that would calm him down.

The green cheek is older than the sun, I think a year or two older. They are both pretty sweet to people and each other. The birds hate being apart and start calling for each other if you bring one to a different room. The owners said they messed up and allowed the birds to become best friends (instead of the owner as the best friend).
The green cheek is smarter and more bold, the sun just kind of follows his lead. They are pretty fun to watch and hang out with, both will sit on my shoulder for hours while I watch TV. The green cheek is also pretty quiet, the sun screeches loud when he can't find the green cheek, or when we come home after being out all day, once I open the cage he shuts up.
patch2361 - I doubt they could catch fish even if they had the chance, these guys seem to eat seed and fruit more than any meaty food.

Argggg! The Sun Conure is driving me and my wife nuts. It's screech is deafening loud and shrill, and he does it for hours in the morning and at night.
I'll stick with fish. No birds for me.

Cover the cage and it will shut up. I've got 6 birds, and it can get quite loud when they all get going. If I want to sleep in on the weekend, I have to cover the cages, or they will have me up at sun up.

6 birds, wow!
Covering the cage works at night, in the morning they still make a racket though (for some reason at around 9am). I found a new thin blanket to use as a cover as the other one our friends gave us didn't quite fit, its darker too, hope it helps tomorrow morning (Saturday).
Thanks for the tip

I have a Gold cap and he is a little clown, they can overwhelm you with thier need for constant attention. mine will stand infront of the tv and dance. I have 4 cats and he case's them all around, they are horrified of him ... I lmao
Try playing some music in the morning, so he doesnt hear the birds outside and keep him covered. Although it is normal for birds to "sing" in the morning so you may not be able to stop him.

Thanks for the tips. If I ever babysit them again I will try the music and TV.
The owners said my wife and I spoiled them the three weeks they were here. He keeps asking us if we want them, hahaha!
I really couldn't stand the noise. The Sun Conure was very, very loud. Gave me migraine headaches. The green cheek was a much quieter bird.
Reef tank is much more quiet, a nice trickle sound and a slight hum is nice.
