I have a small percula clown (1.5", not tank-raised), very happy and eating well. I recently added a lime green carpet anemone (about 8-9" diameter) who has found a place he seems to like. The anemone's been in the tank for almost two weeks, and the clowfish has ignored him.

How do I get these two to interact? Am I just being impatient, or might it never happen?

Any experiences would be greatly appreciated!!!

Anemone's and clowns will not always pair, even when you get the ideal companion.

They can sometimes takes minutes, days, weeks, months or never. It's just dumb luck some of the time. I would urge patience and above all, do nothing to try enticing them together. That would only result in one or both animals early demise.

Anemone's are extremely sensitive creatures and should not be taken lightly. Carpets are among the hardest to care for, so I sincerley hope you have researched your endeavor prior to getting into it....

Best of luck 8)

Cheers

I have heard people having luck (as silly as it sounds) taping a picture of a clown in a anemone to the tank. The clown will see it and might take up with the carpet.

I was told that perculas can be the hardest clown to get to pair up with an anemone. I was also told that a green carpet is one of the worst choices for such and endeavor. A rittori anemone is the perculas first choice, but they are extremely hard to keep, get very large, and move aroung quite a bit. I have actually traded in my percula and got a clarkii and a bubble tip anemone and they paired up instantly.
