durring a tank move today i discovered tens of baby coral banded shrimps.(im guessing thats what they are)tiny shrimp about 2mm in length, transparent and very active. i have been moving all my stock from a 29 gallon into a 72 gallon, including an adult coral banded shrimp. im wondering if anyone has had this happen and maybe some suggestions to keep them alive. or should i let my fish just feed on them. also is it possible they are baby mantis shrimp? i just got some new fiji rock, could they have piggybacked home with the rock? not a huge deal just wondering, it would be cool to have one survive and grow up.

Most likely they are mysid shrimp. They are just tiny little shrimp. The chances are slim that any ornamental shrimp will survive through metamorphosis in our tanks. That's when the actually look like a shrimp.

they multiply fast....you should see my fuge :) If i lift up my chaeto there are hundreds of them scattering. They will be fine in your tank and produce plenty of food for years to come. Its a good sign that your old tank was pretty mature. Hopefully you can mature this new tank and get it settled in. Give us pics when you get it squared away.
