I recently ordered a snowflake eel from Aquacon.com. The fish arrived in good condition and I have had no problems with him.....until a few days ago. When passing by the tank, I noticed the eel was shaking his head in an unnormal fashion. On closer inspection, I noticed black, wormlike, attachments on his body. Thinking it may have been excrement or something of the sort, I didn't worry much. My LFS wanted my eel since he was a large specimen (2 1/2 feet plus). While capturing and bagging him, I noticed the "worms" had spread to his entire body. I have never seen anything like this at all. What worries me the most is that I have two juvenile rare and exotic eels in the tank (one "blackear" and one golden moray). Thus far, they have exhibited no signs of stress or infection (or infestation). There are two wrasses in the tank. A small lunare looks like it may have one close to the dorsal. Does anyone know anything about this or how to treat it? Since I have live rock in the tank, I am weary of using too much medications. Any help/advice that can be given will be greatly appreciated.
