Its not showing up, are you trying to link to a site, or upload an image?
the pic isn't posting.... :?
trying to upload an image....
I think the auto refresh for the ads might be messing something up....
ok, the BMP was almost a meg... I changed to a jpeg and its now 27k.... hopefully it works
:P YEAH.... I guess it was just too big....
With the ball valve adjusted to the right level it keeps the water level about half way up inside the overflow which stops all the noise from the water which would usually be splashing all the way down the drain pipe. I'll try to get some pics of the actual setup tomorow.

Thanks for posting the diagram.
Looks good, I will have to keep that in mind when I set up my larger reef tank.
I guess that would work on a reef reday tank. I have seen a "durso" stand pipe design, but this looks like it can be adjusted eaisly.
thanks for the pic, visuals always help.

I've actually already done this to minimize the noise of my drain. However I first used a ball valve and the adjustment was not exact enough. I like to get it so you can't hear anything. I ordered another type of valve that has a type of gate in it. No ball. Works so much better because I can exactly adjust where I want the water.
Where did you order yours from???
The one I got from lowe's was the only all plastic type they had. They had another iron type but it also had tons of grease inside the gate that I wouldn't want in my tank. not to mention a rusting peice of iron. Couldn't find any plastic kinds, plus the valve adjustment isn't that easy. I have another ball valve on my skimmer that adjusts very easily in small slow amounts to give just the right amount of flow.

The Plasitic ball valves from lowes work well, if you are using them for a shut-off only. Gate valves are much easier to adjust.

Wow, thanks for the site, they've got quite a selection. It has been a pain working with the cheesy ball valve so I did some research and others tend to agree with you about the gate valave so I jsut ordered one from http://www.customaquatic.com
The Spears brand seems to be the best choice, I've read it doesn't have any metal to rust and is supposed to adjust nicely.
