ok, so i have 2 scooter blennies in my tank, and today i watched them, well.. shuffle would be the best word for it next to each other on the sand, they were totaly changed in coloring, heads purpley, bodys kinda rusty, and there back fins going up and down, they did that for about half an hour, mateing? if i see eggs should i move them to an isolation tank?

First let me strat off by saying I am no expert. To me it sounds like either a mating thing or a teritory thing. That's just a guess. Do you know the sex of your scooter blennies? I've read that males can get teritoial with each other.

They rise up to the surface to spawn, this may be a ritual before that happen's. Also the dragonnets just release the egg's in the water, you may be able to collect some at the surface, but you'll have to be ready so all the pump's can be shut off when you think they are about to spawn. The male's have the long dorsal spine like the mandarin in and1's sig.

Mike...do you think it's possible that it could be a teritorial thing? Or was i way off with that?

I'd think if it was territorial there would be more agression, but I don't know for sure. It would probably depend on the sex of the two fish.

i did not buy them as a pair, i orignialy bout what looked to me as one male and two females based on colring and what i've read of how to tell. one of the two "females" went missing about 2 weeks ago. and there was no aggression that i saw, i didn't see them rise to the surface at all.
