i have my pcs on for 12hrs actinic, and 10hrs 10k. My mushrooms and anenome close up at around 6, when the 10ks go of at 8pm. Should i make any changes?

If you have had this photo period for a while I would not change anything.

Well my corals close up if I leave my lights on for too long. I think it's a sign they don't want anymore.

Many light dependant animals will close up when they have had enough light for the day. It's their way of protecting themselves. Some will also shorten their polyp/tentacle length. I would not suggest reducing the photoperiod unless damage is being done.

Most are from equatorial regions that do not have altering length in the amount of sunlight they get. The way we preceive the altering length of a day is not natural to most of the reef animals we keep, ie summer and winter.

I agree with the above advice. You shouldn't really shorten the amount of time the lighting is on unless you see some stress/damage from the corals.

I'm curious though, how long has this been going on? I know you recently upgraded your lighting. Did you remember to aclamate the corals slowely to the new lighting?

well, i never had my corals with my old lighting. i got them after i got my PC's. My condy is going out of his light cycle a lot since i changed. He got in a rythym with my NO's where he consistently opened and closed when lights went on and off. Its my mushrooms im worried about. I want them to grom and be happy, but they shrink at aroung 6 pm. ?? I think i will wait longer. Its weird cuz the mushrooms were under like 400 watts vho, and i have 192 pc lighting

How old where the VHO's before changing to the PC? Could just be adjusting to a spectrum shift?

i have figured out that my mushrooms have not gotten good light in their spot. A bunch of them died already, but i just moved them ,and the some of the damaged ones and hanging on, hopefully survive. My condy has gotten in this weird spot where he is almost under a rock, and stretches way up for the light, stretching his foot to be like 6 inchs long around the rock! He closes up at about 3 pm, so i know he will have to move soon to get real lighting. Should i turn over the rock, so he has an angle to the light with out stretching?

You are best leaving the anemone how it is. They will often place their foot like that in order to retreat from light or current flow.

Should actually stay there awhile. If it doesn't get what it needs, the condy will move on it's own.
