I have a pair of mandarin dragonettes in a 55g reef aquarium. All conditions in tank are perfect. Lots of LR, LS, and corals including pulsing xenia, nepthia, button polyps, acroporia, sea fan, one marron clown w/large sebae anemone, etc. My lights are 260w metal halide. The point... night before last (July 16th) at around 9:30pm, after the white lights were turned off and the blue lights were still on, I caught them mating (dancing with one an other then swam to top of tank and darted down again real fast). They normally will ignore each other and resumed this ignoring behavior after the "mating". My question is.... if they were successful, what should I be looking for? Where would they most likely leave thier eggs? Is there a protective type behavior? What color are the eggs? How long is the incubation period? What shuld I do now as far as steps toward having live babies ie: should I remove eggs if there found etc?
