bubbles polyps extend like grape-like vesicles during the day, and feeding tentacles at night. the flabellomeandroid or phaceloid with large, smooth-edged exsert septa. different types of bubble coral have different size polyps. Physogyra has a meandroid colony form and smaller vesicles. Plerogyra have larger ones.

they require a fair amount of lighting. i keep a rather nice bubble about 6" deep under PC's, and it's a very happy, healthy coral. they are fairly reasonable hardiness. they are quite aggressive, and if a fish swims into it's polyps, it can, and easily will consume it. they will eat just about anything they can absorb, especially meaty variety of foods. they generally like slower or easy amounts of current, so right next to a powerhead they will probably exhibit a distasteful reaction. i have seen some clown fish host in bubble corals, but it's unlikely, as the bubble usually doesn't tollerate it.

good luck!

During the day, these grape-like bubbles will extend.

If not much lighting is supplied, the bubbles will get larger, to try to catch as much lighting as possible. When fair amounts of lighting are over the coral, the bubbles get smaller, since they do not need the extra lighting.

I think some more information about your setup would help. The above could only be 1/1000 of the posibilities for this.

I would feed it shrimp from the grocery store. It is compatible with most corals, just remember to give it good space because the tentacles come out at night. I've seen 9 inch tentacles!

9" tentacles on a bubble??? you sure it wasn't some form of Eupylia???

anyhow, i feed shrimp to mine, as well as "golden pearl" coral food...my corals love that "golden pearl" stuff...feeding tentacles come out mad crazy!

9" sounds extremely long. The longest i've seen usually ranges from about 1-2"

I will also second the Golden Pearls. They're great to feed to your bubble coral. Krill may also work, as well.
