Here it is... Two 1.5" intake, and four 1" return to tank. Roughly 3'-4' return line. Ok, here is the question:
Should I go with a mag 12 or Iwaki MD40RLXT? On another note, should I go with two mag 9's or two Iwaki MD30RLXT?
I was originally going to go with the MD40, but... Yeah... TIA!

I can't give personal experience for the Iwaki but I have been testing a Mag5 on my new 80 gallon, it works great (it used to be on my skimmer) and it only has a little hum. From my understanding the Iwaki's are a lot more expensive but not sure what it offers over the Mag's
I would also indorse the mag pumps great to use and most of the time quietest. 8) I would also just go for one mag 12 than two mag 9's unless you need to jobs done

well first thing before u even decide mag or iwaki is this what size are your drain lines ?? and if u have 4 return lines do not even waste your time looking at the mag pumps u are def going to want iwaki pumps ,
do u have 4 sep return lines or do u have 2 and a Y fitting up at the tank ? need to get a little bit more infor before i can recommend the correct pump model oh and 2 pumps are always better than 1

I am planning on having two return (yes, a Y fitting), my intake is going to be 1.5" and return will prolly be 3/4" to 1"... I was thinking about getting one MD40RLXT and one Mag 9. How would that work? That way I KNOW that the Iwaki is going to keep things flowing, and then the Mag 9 can be a suppliment to the Iwaki. TIA! =]

sounds like that would work what size tank? and what size drains?
i would not use more than 3/4" returns probably and do not run a Y on the mag pump it does not have the volume to push it

120 gallon.... Its in my signature.... But I am going to have two, prolly 1.5" drains. Would it be better to get two MD30RLXT for the return and split each one, instead of splitting the MD40RLXT three ways, and having one mag? TIA!

i would prob do 2 40 rlxt's which are 1200 gph each , if u are using
1 1/2" drains u will have no problem this would be great for a reef tank

well from my experince u don't have to buy her anything just spend the time with her take her to a nice dinner and a show or movie and aftr that u should be able to give her the model # of the pumps and she'll order them for you while u are at work
