well ive decided to try salt again but this time to not skimp on anything last time i bought a cheap heater and fried my fish. anyhow. This tank is big well to me it is lol coming from just 2 55 gallons...i plan on getting at leat 50lbs of live rock to cycle the tank with and having more in the sump/ref.will this be enough live rock i dont want to much as swimming room is something i dont want to lose. My question is for the fish. How many lions do you think is possible to put in this tank for life? is it possible you think to have 1 attenata. 1 radiata, and 1 or 2 volatains?? thats all i wanna do is lions i know there dirty fish and plan on having a hight gph, uvsteral, RO, all the good stuff for the FOWLR tank. Also how much lighting do you think i should run on this tank i dont plan on using metal halides onthis as lions dont go well in reefs lol. might try that with one of my spare 55's. i plan on using argonite/livesand mixture for the substrate. and a wet/dry filter. however im not sure weather to use bioballs or live rock? and probably running a good canister out of the sump to like an eighm then again its still in the planning stage. thanks for all input im really looking forward to advice and help on this new tank. what kind of lights would you reccomend?

220 gallons!! is this on a stand or in your wall? that sounds pretty cool to have only lion fish. If your want more lions, your going to need more swimming room. As far as lights, if your not going to have any corals, just use what evr will make your live rock grow. why dont you get a dwarf, those are sweet, and the anttenata. the volitans are hardier, but need more space than others, so its your choice.

call me insane, but you can fit about three volitans, four antennatas, a few dwarf fuzzys, and more, since you don't have a lot of LR, you could have an epaulette or catshark in there too. a frogfish and a trigger could be cool too. you could fit all of the aforementioned fish in that 220, three lions is pretty small. you could use your 55 for 2, so a 220 would look like you were cycling it with the lions (just like with damsels) even if it had been runnung for quite some time.

Antenata is a cool lookin Lion but a big waste of money. My buddy has a volitan, dragon wrasse, tomato clown in a 55 gallon, and he bought an antenata last week... lasted 8 hours and was floatin and had been picked at.... later he found from a friend of ours that has been in the fish maintenance and sales for a few years that Antennata is a bad selection of lion because they are the worst and weakest of lions. 220G is a huge tank. You could get prolly 4/5 Volitans in there and some of the dwarfs.... The fish dont swim hardly ever except when they eat...they take a good while to grow. But as i have found ur tank can only handle as many fish as your filtration system can handle.
