I've had an established 75 gallon aquarium that I am moving into my newly finished basement. I am going to turn an old 30 gallon (36 long x 12 wide x 16 high) tank into a refugium for the tank. Any suggestions on lighting (amount and type) or water movement?
I have an overflow box with 1'' bulkhead for return to the sump, as well as a Mag drive 7 and a mag drive 5. I plan on using the refugium to grow macro algae. Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks

I'd use the brightest light you can get you're hand's on. Something in the 6500 kelvin range. I use the LOA floodlight from home depot. It's 65 watt's. More light = more growth though. I've used a 175 watt metal halide on my last refugium and the growth was excellent. For flow the same thing more is better. You don't need alot of flow between the tank anf the refugium, but you do need alot in the refugium itself. I'd shoot for around 20 turn as a minimum. I also suggest you dose an iron addative. It will help the algae grow and keep it from desintegrating on you.
