Hello,

I have a few of thes in my tank. Tank is about 6 weeks old. This one is the largest one I have found. It is about one half inch long. Seems to flatten itself out when I cut my 20k 250 watt bulb on to check out the tank, like it doesn't like the intense light. I was amazed to find out anemones move. I thought I was going crazy...one day it would be in one spot, the next day i couldn't find it, the day after it'd be back in the original spot! I set this tank up to provide a stress free area in my house just for me!!! <evil laugh> Now i realize i'm still sane and anemones do move around (whiping sweat of brow). Anyway I have another kind of anemone in my tank, it's a very small one reddish brown color...it ran away so when I can find it i'll try to take a picture of it. It looks like a smaller version of an aptasia (sp) i saw at the LFS. Because of the color of the anemone in the pic below i'm wondering if it is not an aptasia (sp). What do you guys think? Oh yea there are several on the glass of my tank, a couple on the intake to my Emperor filter, and finally live rock....what do you all think?

Aiptasia Anemone

Do a search on Aiptasia. You'll get many threads on this pest, and how it can multiply very qickly.

Looks like small aptasia or a worm. Unclear picture.

Thanks for the input guys...it is clearly an aiptasia anemone. i'll be seeding my DSB with live sand later on this week and soon after add some pepperment shrimps to get rid of them naturally.
