hi, i just bought 15-20 lbs live rock at my lfs. I picked the rocks because they had what i thought were polyps, but i am sure they are anenomes. I have about five who are all about an inch tall, and ive fed them. They are either clear or a light pink. Its cool because i can see the food in their feet! Check this out! Maybe theyll grow.

pete_ra,
I could be wrong but the top pictures looks like Aiptasia based on pictures I have seen around. Check out this link (http://www.reefs.org/hhfaq/pages/main_pages/faq_rock1.htm). I am new to this game so I could be wrong.

They are aptasia you need to kill them before they start spreading. Occassionaly I'll get one or two with a new coral and my peppers are on it no problem.

I agree, that looks like aiptasia anemones.

I would get them out of the tank as soon as you can, as they can sting neighboring corals and clams and multiply very quickly. Injecting them with HOT (This is an understatement...I mean Boiling water) should work. Injecting them with limewater should also work. Injecting them with Calcium Hydroxide should also work. There's many methods of removel. Pepperments shrimps may also do the job :)

ive noticed these in my tank also, but i never knew they are harmful. ive never had any problems with corals being stung or anything.

yep, that's aiptasia for ya. Use any of the methods PH listed. I have not experienced this myself, but I have heard that a kalk paste (Calcium hydroxide) is the most "guranteed" way to get rid of them. I really like the boiling water idea though.

yeh, these suckers are hard to get. I have one that sticks out of a hole and every time i get near with the needle, he senses a light change and jumps back in! My essential elemnts dont work, it only makes them weak and smaller, so im off for getting the boiling water.
