Hey wondering what everyone thought about either of these skimmers. I am purchasing one soon and i would get the upgraded pump with the remora and wondered if i should get the skimmer box or not and if the remora is for sure the favorite here? I have a 29 or 75 Gallon tank that it will be used on. Thanks for your help.

I have a 20 gal reef. I placed a BakPak2 with the filter on it. Not the R version that they say for reef. I think the only diff here is that you do not get the bio bail with the R. It is a very nice unit. Hangs well. They say it's good up to 60 gal. They have a dual unit that is good to 100 gal.
Got it off the web for $128 from www.marinedepot.com. They were having a no shipping deal when I got it. At the moment, shipping would be $10. If you get your order over $150. Shipping is free.

hey man, nice grab on that skimmer. Ive got the same one on my 46 gallon tank. as well as an emporer. What power head do you have on the skimmer? Thats cool is good up to sixty gallons, maybe ill upgrade to that in a while. im just thinking a more powerful power head will support my corals better.

I see on the webpage that it is powered by a RIO 600. It has an air injector. This is powered by a hose with filter and valve that sticks out of the tank.

Hey, I recieved the AquaC Remora Pro with the mag 3 pump and it has done pretty well on my 29G tank. It will take a while to completely break in i'm told and might be a bit of work setting the collection cup at the right height. So far ive' pulled out lots of stuff, but not incredibly dark, so i just need to keep raising the collection cup up untill i am satisfied with the skimmate.

It take a while to adjust Cup height, but once you do it runs great.
Keep us up to date....
Did you get the surface skimmer?

I didn't get the surface skimmer yet, but i probably will when i get a bigger tank. It would take up half my tank right now (29G).

I had a question. The O-ring on my collection cup broke and I have no idea what to do. I don't even know where it is. I don't know of any replacements on the web. Does anyone have a suggestion as to what I might be able to do? Thanks in advance.

Hey Mike,
Call up jason kim at AquaC. He is the head of the business and i'm sure you can find his number at www.proteinskimmer.com or the company number. He will set you up with a new one. Might cost $5 shipping but for the time being i would try to wedge some rubber bands between the collection cup and the skimmer because they should hold it up for a few days without scratching the acrylic.

you should be able to locate a replacement gasket at a local hardware store...my first try would be a grainger.
i think rubberband might work, as suggested...
if no luck try to get me the size, and i'll see what i can conjure up...got some o-rings at the shop!
