Can a freshwater tank be switched over to a saltwater?? I've had a buddy who said no.. once it is a freshwater there is too much ammonia in tank and it cant be switched. Cant ya do some sort of cleaning out and get the right equipment?? thanks

Sure you can. Clean it with vinegar and water to clear off any mineral deposits, then with bleach to kill any bacteria that might still be living there. Some people are worried that if a tank has been treated with copper compounds that it can soak into the silicone, and then back out into the water, but I've never found that to be a problem. I have a hospital tank that has had copper treatments many times, I now use it for a frag tank with no problems.
