Staghorn Acropora Brown Fiji - Acropora species
Also known as: Staghorn Coral, Elkhorn Coral
http://store6.yimg.com/I/marinedepotlive_1706_4348575
The Staghorn Acropora Brown Fiji has a brown color. Small polyp stony coral (SPS).
It likes to eat filter feeding invert food, brine shrimp, micro-plankton a few
times per week, when open. The Acropora species is generally semi-aggressive toward
other tankmates. Many consider the Acropora species a high-maintenance specimen.
Has strong lighting needs. The Staghorn Coral, Elkhorn Coral requires strong water
flow. Symbiotic algae zooxanthellae are hosted within this organism. The family
Acroporidae comprises many species; some stellar and a few aquarium disappointments.
As with all SPS they require consistent, metabolite-free water and intensely lit,
well-circulated conditions. Given their capacity for asexual culture, diversity,
abundance and beauty, this group will remain a prominent part of advanced reef
aquarists dreams and aquaculture efforts. Keep water quality high (SG 1.023 -
1.025, pH 8.1 - 8.4, Temp. 72 - 78° F).
