other than the fact that most sharks eat fish why are they not reef compatible? It is true that they will still eat fish in a non reef tank so what makes them non reef compatible? I dont want a shark and I do believe they should be left in there natural habitat but why cant they be put in a reef. Is there a shark that can be put in a reef?

Why would you ever want to put a shark into a reef tank. One the tank size should be 300 gallons plus. The sharks are almost blind so they knock over rocks and everything else. I've heard numerous stories where a rock has fallen on a shark and they've sufficated because they couldn't get water over their gills. They also require a good diet consisting of a variety of high protein meats. (Like they have in the wild.) I also believe they prefer a more lagoon type tank. A little bit dirtier.

Sharks aren't blind, what happens is that they go into feeding frenzies, and knock stuff over, like a dog when you get the biscuits out. Coral cats and bamboo are reef safe if you have a cave and some empty areas, but, at least 220 gal for each of these.

I have heard a lot of stories of sharks going into feeding frenzies and poking eyes out and getting gashes from LR in reefs. my 2 in a prtial are fed only in the open snady areas so if they start swingin' they don't get hurt. The above reasons are why sharks are generally not "reef safe" that and they will scarf your cleaning crew before they even think of going after fish.
