from a free lance photographer....those are some really nice images. that's an understatement...AWESOME IMAGES!!!

you have an eye for balance and counter-balanced subjects! great shooting!

you also have grasped what's commonly known as the "law of thirds."

when shooting imagine either vertically or horizontally the frame in thirds. try some creative shooting, and put the subject say in the bottom left hand corner, or top right...use your imagination.

This is another topic in which I have a good bit of experience (unfortunately, reefs are not one of them). I have my own color/B&W darkroom, have sold several photos, and have even done one wedding as a professional (NEVER AGAIN!!!!).

I can say with authority that those are VERY well done-Nice work

I may get a few of mine up for fun too.

Nice Pictures.
What camera are you using?

In my experience, it has VERY little to do with the camera. If you know what you're doing, you can take excellent photos with the most basic equipment.

Thanks for the wonderful comments!! :-D

Irisservice,
Phistio was right. It was a Sony Cybershot F707 :)

Phistio, thanks for the tips. I'll hopefully be taking some more when I have some time :)

nice picks PH. I have the 717 and I cant take pictures like that! It seems like I can only capture nice photos with my SRL.

Maybe I need to set down and really work on my camera~!

Surgeon,
Just saw the new post...some of those shots are amazing! The clouds and the bird are great! Same with the grasshopper.

May I ask what camera you're using? :)

Thanks PH... I'm kinda fond of the grasshopper myself.

surgeon67
03-28-2003, 07:53 PM
Most of them were taken with an old Canon AE-1. Some, like the colored clouds were with a model A-1. I have some better ones but I have them too big to scan. No trick photography or darkroom tricks except with the colored clouds... it was a multi-exposure.

well...
i broke down and got a fuji s602 zoom...

this camera is outstanding! i've been playing with it the past few days...

it has some very nice features...not to mention a 6.2 megapixel mode. in fact, the memory card that came with it, will not even take one finest quality picture, as it's far too big.

anyhow, you will be seeing several pictures that the s602 is capable of generarting...

what do you think of these macro functions???  :D

That caterpillar is a very cool picture.

I'm using the Olympus 3020, its really good in both regular and macro modes to just point and shoot.

All these great shots make me want to go out and take more pics!

phistio
07-01-2003, 05:50 PM
yeah photoshop... 7.0 the first is "glowing edges" the second is "inverted" colors. and the third is pushed a bit.

i've been taking pictures non-stop since i got the s602...

you be the judge...here's the original color. one thing you may notice is digital noise. it was one reason i chose to go black and white...easier to mask the pixelization...

technical note:

this was shot with an olympus C-720, a four megapixel camera.

I like them both for different reasons. The B&W is very classic and sharp, but the color, gives mood that the B&W doesn't capture.
