I have a 72 gallon tank with LR. I wanted to get a regal tang, yellow tang and 2 clowns for my size tank is too much? The only fish I have right now is one damsel and a bird wrasse. I was looking at getting a kole tang instead of the regal tang. I heard they are hardier.

With a tank that size you really should keep only one Tang, and a smaller variety at that. I vote for a Yellow or Kole.

I strongly agree with Mark.
You should keep the smaller species of tang in the tank, and only one tang at that. What species do you say when you say 'Regal Tang?' I think there's a few tangs known as that name, which grow to various sizes. Likely the Yellow Eyed/Kole Tang would be the best for your tank. These grow fairly small, and will be fine in your tank.
