Is there any way I can reattach my mushroom to my live rock?
you can always try to get it between to rocks or in a hole of one....

Use a rubberband to attach it to a rock. It may take a couple weeks to attach. While you're at it, cut the mushroom in two or three pieces and attach each one to a different rock.

I have a bunch of xenia & one of them has shrunk up like a ball. Must be the lighting change? All my other factors are good. I went from power compacts to Mh's when I went from a 75 to a 90gallon tank. Only thing I can think of. Is it dead? It has been in my tank for like 8 months, but over the last month it has wated away to this. I moved it to the top on top of some new rock for a change. [/img][/img]

Did you aclamate the corals to the new lighting? If not, your xenia could very easily die, from being burned by the sudden shock of intense halides. I would place it at the very bottom of the tank, in a shadded area, and over a month, slowely move it to the top of the tank. You can suddenly shock the corals with Halides, going from weak PC's.

What you read is correct. You can shock a coral. But, you are likely mis reading what I have stated.
Lets say you have a Colt coral, nice in coloration, very healthy, and large. That colt coral has been in your tank over a year with the same lighting the whole time. Your lighting is 3x 96wt PC's on a 40 gallon aquarium. The colt has ajusted to this lighting, and ajusted the symbiotic zooxanthellae inside its tissues. You one day, add 800wts of Metal Halides over this tank. You leave them on for the same number of hours as the old lighting, just you upgraded to 800wts of halides instead of your original 288wts of PC's. You will burn the tissues of the coral, and possibly the coral may die. The zooxanthellae is being shocked and burned by the sudden shock of intense lighting.
That's why I am saying that you need to slowely aclamate corals to a lighting upgrade, rather thn just placing the lighting over the tank as if nothing happened. The corals need to slowely decrease their zooxanthellae to ajust to your lighting. You cannot burn a coral with too much lighting, as long as you slowely aclamated it towards the lighting. Does this make sense?

When I had one of my green stripe mushrooms get loose after I bought a rock full, it would tumble around the tank and found a spot near the main rock and attached itself. (Lucky Me)
One of the more expert keepers on the reefkeepers mailing list suggested using wedding veil material over it and anchor the edges. Another possibility or in combo with above is to cut a plastic soft drink bottle around the circumference and place this over it (without the cap on, of course.) This would protect it from movement but still keep it open to the tank.
