Well I did not know I had a breeding pair in the tank, but this morning I noticed that one of my Bangaii Cardinals had a mouthful of babies. Any chance that these could make it tu maturity without isolations? Is there any thing that I might want to do? I will see if I can grab a good photo, but the babies are just too small to really see.

Congrad.. I don't know the answer to your question but it will be fun trying to get them out of your 220G tank :)

You need to take them out of the display if they are to have any chance of survival. I think they will last one day on the yolk, but after that they will need rotifiers. Do a google search, I'm sure you can find something that will point you in the right direction.

What type of cardinal? Did you notice any strange behavior prior to noticing the babies? My LFS has a customer that brings in his when they are born, they are so cute. I was under the impression that they will survive in a home aquarium better than most because the adult fish will keep the babies in his mouth until they are ready to live on their own and if your corals are doing well and you have a good pod population feeding should be no problem. I have also heard of the babies seeking shelter in long spine urchins. I wish something in my tank would breed. Good luck and keep us posted.
