What are these things? They are poping up all over my 75.

BTW....Please dont mention the hair algae....I'm working on that!

Moving to the "General Reef" forum, where you will get more acurate and faster replies. This is for emergencys, and as you can see this is no biggy :-)

By the looks of it, I have no clue what it could be. Check out http://www.reefs.org/hhfaq/pages/main_pages/faq_rock1.htm and that might answer your question. Thanks

PH =)

I had the same, was told it is just a form of algae....described by some as "monkey's paw" or similar.

From another board, I found out that this is Neomaris Annulata, common name is Spindleweed. It is a harmless calcerous (sp?) algae.

Thanks for the input. Anybody want some? Free for the taking!!

they grow mostly in well lit places...especially under MH's...this might sound weird...but everytime my friend gets new acro frags in her tank...these pop up...and even more so with monti...like a day later, BAM...they start growing...

don't know what the relationship is...

anyone else ever see the same phenomenon?

I have some of that in my tank, i personally think it looks really cool. I've noticed that my bicolour blenny eats it from time to time, so maybe you might want to look into getting some sort of blenny to eat it, maybe a lawnmower, they tend to stick to greens more then the bi colours do.
