My tank is a 55 gallon, SPS dominated tank with most components being DIY.
I had the tank set up as a fish only tank for 2 years in my old house. When
we moved a friend was breaking down his tank and asked if I could take his
fish and anenome. I said sure and figured I wanted to figure out the
mystery that was the reef aquarium. I started by purchasing a sheet of
acrylic an making my own 18 gallon sump, and overflow. Lighting was
something I did know much about but figured out very quickly if can be
expensive if you don't figure it out right the first time...I make a canopy
that matched my stand and added, 440W of VHO's on a Icecap 660 ballast and
DIY moonlights, and a few months later got the SPS bug, and added 2 175 W
Coralvue 20K bulbs...My fitration is from a Euroreef 5-2 Skimmer and
Homemade Carbon filter that I change monthly and run 24/7...Flow is provided
by a Mag 7 return pump and 4 Maxijet powerheads...A homemade Ca reactor
maintains my Alk and Ca levels...

As for live stock there is over 50 varieties of SPS in the tank ranging
from Blue Tortosa to montipora digitada...most of these are frags I have
recieved and are growing nicely...the plan is to move everything to a 400
gallon system next month which will feature a 240 gallon in wall show
tank...The following fish are doing well aand most have been in the system
for 2 years...Convict Tang, Hippo Tang, 2 False Per Clowns, Pshydelic
mandarin, clown Goby, Pajama cardinal, Lineas Wrasse, Regal Angel, and a
Yellow belly chromis, various starfish, shrimp and clams are in the tank
also...

Please feel free to provide comment or ask questions...Thanks
