You need to help us, get the correct information in your posts. By reading these guidelines and describing your question in details on the first post, you'll have a much better chance of getting quick and accurate replies, with all of the tank info your provide for us.
First, When you post, instead of a generic subject line like "I HAVE A QUESTION!!", use a descriptive and deatailed subject such as "Can you ID this yellow fish?" or "How do I setup a DSB?" This will attract more people to your message who actually know about it, insted of anyone browsing through thinking its something else, and also help future visitors try the first option above. Best of all, people who have ick in the future, can easily retrace your post, insted of looking through every post looking for the question.
Second, you need to provide the proper information in your tank set up, so if your post says little more than "My leather is acting funny, is this normal?" people won't really be able to help you, or they will end up listing everything that could be wrong, when it is something simple. You need to actually give as much information as you can about your entire setup so that people can identify possible causes of distress and suggest corrections. Some of the most important details are:
* When you started the tank
* Tank size
* Current Filteration
* ENTIRE fish population
* What you feed, and how often
* Your maintenance routine (water changes, vacuming substrate, etc.)
* ALL water parameters you can give (Temp, pH, GH, KH, ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, calcium, copper, phosphate, and anything else)
* Any other info on the fish/coral/invert
Also, when giving out this information don't say "The levels are fine," or "The trite is good" say " The nitrite is .50ppm" and let us decide if we think your levels are good.
Also, don't say My trate is 48. That means next to nothing. You need to be spacific in what youe measuring it in, such as PPM (Parts Per Million).
Third, Take everyones advice seriously, and into consideration. Sometimes, what works for someone, wont work for the other person. So, take every piece of advice you get, and take that into big consideration.
Also, please respect everyone's opinions. Everyone has their own opinion on things, which is why our reef tanks are all setup different; some people do their tank this way, others that way. No one way is the 'correct' or 'right' way. What might work for you, might/might not work for others. Please take all advice into consideration.
