Any ideas on what this little fellow is?
Seem to have quite a few of these guys,
on the rocks, in the sand. I dug this little
guy up so you folks could get a better look.
Found a pic similiar to something called
"Spaghetti Worms"
Anyway, here are the pics.

don't think it is a Spaghetti Worm, it may be a form of a bristol worm :)
what ever it is it looks very weird.
be careful handling it, it could suck your blood :)

I give you credit. If I found something like that in my tank, picking it up would be the last thing on my mind!

Hard to tell in the pics but my guess would be a Terebellidae or Spaghetti worm. Could also be a Cirratulid worm.
Dr. Ron over at reefcentral could give you a definitive answer.
My gut feel is it's probably a beneficial scavanger.

Penny is outside the tank and for reference for size comparision.
As for picking it up, no, it's not a bristle worm (have several of those
in the tank at least 6" or more and I only move those guys with either
chop sticks or tweezers, not my fingers).

now here's the real question. If you have the worm in your right hand, and the penny with the left. Who shot the butler...hm....opps...I mean who shot the camera?
I know I am getting off subject, but you have to have a little fun here right? Interesting worm. Keep us informed on what it is!

LMAO Samurai!!
Anyway,
I honestly think it is a Spaghetti worm, or Terebellidae worm, as Anemoneman stated. I would just let it be in the tank :)

it's actually a Timerete polychaete...or commonly a "ball of yarn worm"
the hair-like dorsal tentecles are used to feed on detritus. and for some reason they seem to be commonly found in tanks that have a window nearby...i don't know if they thrive with the extra abundant light from the sun or what. they have a life span of years. harmless, and beneficial...although, they are pretty ugly...lol

I know that with Earthworms, if you cut them into two pieces then two worms will grow; would that be possible with any of the worms in our tanks?

Actualy two worms will not grow, but the half that contains the brain and major organs will in fact survive most of the time.

that was probably a flat worm though you can cut a flatworm into like 10 pieces and they will all regrow the whole worm.
well mabe more like 3 or 4 pieces but you get the idea.
