A Calcium reactor maintains Alk and Calcium. These are great units. I use one my self.
I don't have a nitrate reducer , but for info check this site

Hey Logan15,
Welcome to Reef Lounge. I have a Nitrate Reducer from NatuReef. Check out the link in my signature there is plenty of info on the process of Nitrate Reducers. I love it. Mine also has a Phosphate option which guarentee's 0 phosphates also.
Basicly what it does in english is.....makes a bacteria that eats nitrates.
So now you have to do less or no water changes. Which means you can really stock up your tank with fish also, because it will eat as much nitrate as you give it!!! I still do water changes often because I have the luxery of going out in the boat in the gulf stream and getting clean blue water out of the great atlantic. Get all the goodies out of the actual sea water. But for you pour souls that have to make your own water, it allows you to do it less.
I actually just started mine back up today. A picture of it empy can be seen on my website. I will post more pics when it get going.
