Hi Everyone... Lately i've having problems with hair algae in my 50 gal. reef tank. My tank is 2 yrs old now. The other day, i bought a sea hare (some kind of a sea slug), with advice from the regular fish store that i visit. And lo-and -behold..... as soon as i put it in my tank, it went to work right away, chomping most of the hair algae on one side of my tank in about 5-10 mins. It was money well spent!!
It's not the most beautuful creature, but it does the job. I think it's more like a sea cow than a hare !! Anyways i hope this piece of info will help someone. Good luck!!! :D

Sally Lightfoots' are notorious hair algae eaters as well. I brought some live rock from a guy who was breaking his tank down. He was like you see how much hair algae is on it...lol. I just laughed and said yep that will be a nice snack for my greedy little hobbits...lol. I have two in my 55 gal. The rock was pretty covered in hair algae, but with in a few days it was all gone.

Hope that helps,
Henry
