I currently have a royal dottyback and a percula clown as my only fish. A skunk shrimp, mushroom coral and some brown polyps are my primary inverts.

Does this sound like a good addition to my tall 37 gal? It is very colorful and seem pretty benign.

I think it would work out fine, but some say that they are supposed to do better in schools.

im not sure about the type of dottyback you have but these are really aggressive fish, and the firefish are very timid and will be harrassed.i would also suggest introducing them in a small school of about three.

I would get a mated pair of Firefish, rather than buying 3-4 of them at once, which might lead to aggression. Most LFS's will sell mated pairs :)

I've had firefish and I've not had a problem with them fighting. The dottyback and the firefish sort of work. The dottyback might starve your firefish though. If you have holes in rocks firefish goes in an never comes out to eat. No holes dotty chases him around and pecks him.

You are right. The dottyback does chase the firefish a bit. About once a week, the firesfish will "take a day off" where I cannont find him at all. He will usually reappear the next day, often at feeding time. They both get along fine with the percula clown though.
