I want a Pigmy (sp) Atlantic Angel and would like to see what everyone thinks.
I have a 39 gallon tank and plan on adding mushroom corals, Brain corals and other moderate to low light corals. I was wanting to be sure the fish is reef safe and if it would be ok in a 39 gallon. Also is the fish very hardy.

You should be ok, in your tank. Just keep an eye on him at first, he may nip at some of your corals, when you get them.
The 39 gallon tank is a good size for that fish.
Do you have any corals now?

No I do not have any corals as of today, but I am planning on getting some mushroom corals and some live sand from an established tank (for the infauna) this weekend. :D

Be careful with sessile inverts and an angelfish.

To my knowledge the Cherub Angel (C. argi) is about the only pygmy angel that hasn't been noted for a coral nipping incident. I have had them, never had a problem. They're nice fish. I would make sure you add it in the proper order though, I have heard stories of them being agressive, though I've never experienced it.

What would be the proper order? Just curious...how you go about that?

Depends on what fish are going to be added to the tank. Without knowing which fish, there is no way to specify what order. But...you would want your least aggressive most timid fish added first and so on until you get the the most aggressive.

So, research like hell before you add your fish, eh? Easy enough...and makes sense. That way territories are established by your agressive fish after your timid fish are well adjusted.
Thanks!

So true Lahatiel, I learned that lesson the hard way this week with a tankful of dead and sick Tetras.

Hey Samurai,
I guess it wasn't too clear...I was referring to the same angel the original poster was. Where Pygmy angel is considered a type (Centrpyge) it is also commonly used as a common (now wasn't that redundant...lol) name for the cherub (C. argi).

My mistake. I seem to be making a few of those today.
