The T. Crocea is a rock boring clam, it's quite normal for it to be like that. The Crocea Clam penetrates through limestone substrates by releasing an acid to break down the carbonate in the stone. It uses the ridges of its thick shell to dig into the rock by opening and closing quickly through the use of its bysal muscles. It's normally found in rocks in the shallow waters. It's a great spot for the clam, they usually don't do well in the substrate.

Its aways been my favorite clam. I had about 8 clams at one time, when the sps stated growing I sold em all off but this one. Its in a perfict spot for my tank, even if I wanted to move it I couldn't.

I'm talking about a whole new ball game here. Jan's, Pasadena tropical fish and all the other FS you have been to in this area are small potatoes compared to Jeff's and ReefFanatic.
Jeff's is in Gardena and ReefFanatic is in Whittier (corner of 60 and 605) These are Mail order places. I would suggest you visit Jeff's to start..
ReeFanatic only sell equipment and it will call only. You can't go in there and shop around.
Here's Jeff's link www.exoticfish.com

Nope, that was Aquatic Outlet (www.aquaticoutlet.com).
I don't recommend the place though. They do have good liverock I must say, that you can easily choose the peices you want, for a fairly good price. But, don't let the looks of the store fool you.
Beware of Dave...
Beware of Shannon...
Beware of the Owner...
Beware of any of the Employees...
Whatever you do, do not ask for advise, do not buy any dry goods (the prices are outragious!), and do not buy any coral (most are half dead or dyed anyway. The ones in their show tank are good, but extremely high priced).
Many people have gotten ripped off by this store. If you want to go there to get some rocks, you can. Just watch out for those people and what I said above. Enter at your own risk.

 I think the graveyard behind PH's house is full of stuff from Aquatic Outlet. To be fair to Aquatic Outlet, most of PH's bad experience was his own fault, he had people (myself included) telling him not to buy but he didn't listen. This was a case where the LFS didn't care about who, what or where and the buyer had no patience and also didn't care who, what or where.
PH, Sure AO gave you bad advice but these were choices made by you even after people on BB's like this advised you different. Its not like it happened once, twice or even ten times, it was a LOT.
thanks golfish for pointing that out. Yes there are stores that do that and give bad advice to make some $, but it helps to listen to people who have been through it

Zack,
I know PH is going to think that I'm attacking him but that's not the case. He's come a long way in the past 6-8 months and has learned a lot but his post can sometimes be misleading. As you know I've been in this hobby for 20 years, I like to tell people about all my screwups and there is a lot of them. You guys now days have it easy. When I started all wehad was our own experience and advice from the LFS.
same I am not being mean... LOL waht I was saying is I like to take advice from peopel like you :D ...

On the Aquatic Outlet issue, I have to partially agree with you. Much of it was because of my lack of knowledge then. Try asking everyone who has bought from Aquatic Outlet, i'm sure they'll tell you thier stories :)

PS. Hey Mark, you never got back to me about the email I sent you regarding when I could check out your tank. Leathercoral85ga@aol.com :)

How much would you be selling the livesand for? I might be interested in some of it. Same with the liverock, it sounds awesome (Fiji). I might stop by at a time that would be good for you after Murray makes the stand. I want to add this when i'm switching the stands out so the rocks/sand doesn't have to sit out for over 48hrs :)

Thats not going to be an option. I'll be selling all the rock at one time or I'll take it to a friends house. I don't have the means to weigh out piece.
