I have ordered some rods to help stablize my rock. Do I need a special drill bit to do the holes or will any work? Also will the rock hold togather pretty good or can it crack or break where your drilling it. Would it work better on certain types of rock? Thank yall,, Pamela

Thanks Scott, can you tell how much fun I'm having? I'm new to computors as well as reefs and after being fustrated so much with the other sites it is such a joy to be able to ask questions and have people get back to me. I hope I don't wear ya'll out with the questions but I have been saving for a long time to set this tank up right and I'm getting really close now! Pamela

That is what we are all here for to help each other and to learn a little something at the same time :)

Hello Pamela, What are the rods made of? gel super glue works very well( the kind that is used to glue corals to rock or other objects) be wary of breaking or drilling live rock as there will not be a bio film on the drilled or broken/damaged portions thus allowing exposure of phosphate which could lead to all kinds of problems, have fun

Hi Ron, I'm getting the rods from work where they are used to poke meal down into machines that produce pet foods. They are made out of a hard nylon material so that they are not only strong but harmless when the occasional oops happen and the extruder grabs it from you! I"ve asked for a smaller version, about 1/2 around, you think that will work? Pamela

I was told it is sold by the foot so I just told him to get me about 10 ft. I was thinking if it works like I hope it will I'll just pass what I don't need on. I might have to wait a bit though cause there is a 100$ min and my guys don't need any at the moment in our shop. I'll let you know when I get it and how it works.
