Hi,
i have a large piece of LR with star polyps on it and i was wondering how to separate some of the polyps to move ,say 50%, to the other side of my tank to help it spread quicker. The polyps i have have almost doubled in coverage and the polyps have also grown in size. Any suggestions
thanks
Ron

try putting a few smaller rocks or rubble right next to the colony. in due time they should start to make their way onto the rocks, and then you can move them where ever you'd like them to proliferate.

best of luck!

thanks , they have already made their way to other surrounding rocks, but the base of the polyps are attached as one, so if i pick up one rock, the others are following. The colony has attached the rocks together. I need to know how to disect them, so i can move the rocks to other sides of the tank. Do i just slice and dice them? is there one main body or can i cut the colony in half and move them with hopes of them continuing to grow or will this kill them? They are growing at a decent rate and are very healthy.
thanks again
Ron

you should be able to cut them and seperate the rocks with no ill effect to the colony. GSP's are pretty hardy, and frag/cut very easily.

best of luck!
