HI
I have seen moon nights that people use to simulate the moon. Try looking at a few stores for stuff don't go with anything to intense! good luck! :!:

If you want to look at it at night, just buy a red bulb for your flashlight. Or maybe just put a red cover over a flashlight. Should allow you to view your tank without disturbing it.

actually those spot LED "moonbeams" can be quite beneficial for your tank...especially for corals that spawn on a lunar cycle...

an actinic on all night would be too much light, and stressful on the reef.

actually those spot LED "moonbeams"

Can you give a link to them? Any way to DIY them? I have heard of people using the blue party bulbs, and have been considering this for a while, but I am not sure how much, if any, difference it will make, so if I do it, I want to do it as cheaply as possible http://www.stopstart.fsnet.co.uk/mica/peace.gif

Thanks for your help and comments.
As many of us are, I am on a mission to make my reef as true as can be...that's the name of the game right. So a replication of moonlight would be key..

I seen a timer system somewhere that will simulate the seasonal lighting patterns as well as the lunar cycle...let me look fer that.

That system is nice, wish I could afford it right now.

Q. No, seriously, why would I want a red bulb?
A. OK, if you don't want it for a tank, the color on this one and the "HL Blue" is very similar to Obi-Wan and Darth's light sabers. We've had lots on fun in the warehouse playing with them. :-P

LOL

Had to Edit and add this...This post is my 200th! Yay me! :P

IceCap has a controller that can do moon phases with VHO's and also forecast weather changes and simulate storms and cloudy days during the day. If any one is interested in buying one send me an e-mail.
