What size tank would have if you had no limitations of space, money, or time.

I would have a 150+ because it would provide more stable conditions. It would also have more space to work with. This would allow for more fish, coral, and inverts. Overall I think the abundance of life would be better. Sort of rhetorical.

i love my macro-nano 25...but if there were no restrictions (time, money etc.) i'd have a 15,000 gallon room tank...either that or a cross-section lagoon tank with a tide pool wave system...glass view at the deep part leading up a platform that surrounded the tank that brought you to surface/shore level. that way, it'd be the best of both worlds...shallow reef, and tide pools. like a public aquarium! :D

Give me 10+ years people...then you will see the most SICK azz home aquarium ever!

I want (have the designs in my head and some on paper) for a 4,000-6,000 Gal Custom Aquarium. 8)

Once I am flying for a commercial airline and making around $100-150K per year...that WILL be happening!!! And I WILL be posting about it.

I will also have a site about it from start to finnish!

OK, so after I saw the setup that Basspro shop has at their new location (something around 50,000 gallons plus, a pretty good size room), I begged and pleaded with my wife (to no avail) to let me turn the spare room into a cool tank. So for now, will be happy with my 125 and will eventually get her two 60's setup in place of the current 30's.

SIGH. I would definitely have to go with something really big. Something I could snorkel in. Now THAT would make an impression on people.

Heck lets just put all of our unlimited money together and go buy Mall of America. Then turn it into a giant aquarium. What do you think?

Fiji thats funny. I think you will have to make much more than $150,000 to have an aquarium that size! Unless of course you dont have a house :D

I would have a 600-800gal. built into my living room wall. Much like this guy did: http://www.rockcanyon.com/reef/construction.htm

It would have to have a seperate room for the tank equipment. Actually, My soon to be wife and I plan to build a new home within 5 years, and that is when my tank will come to life. I already have the plans in mind.

:) :D

I'd like 150+.
The question might not be how big one tank would be but how many different tanks you would have.

If you get a tank big enough you could make it an aquariam and make people pay to veiw it.

Then w/ that money you can buy even more tanks

I would have to go witha 200 Gallon. I've seen them set up and they are not too big but not too small. My ideal tank size.

i have to go with the bigger the better. i can't wait till i get my 200+ up and fully stocked. and it's ironic that you all talk about turning your pools into a tank, i actually have two friends that did just that. their nice HUGE inground pool houses some very nice and LARGE reef inhabitants and they have quite a coral reef growing there as well. it's amasing, and of course they are always rubbing it in they they have a reef pool and the rest of us don't......jerks

Course the flip side is that you can't spend as much on corals with a tiny tank. :D

severnija, that would be cool if you could get photos of these pool tanks.

My ideal would be to walk into a room with one door, and the room is, say, 20x20x10'tall.
3' wide by 4' tall aquarium starting at the door, and spanning all the way around the room back to the door.
8' pond (refugium) in the center, placed so you can walk around it, with 5-6 large mangroves inside. It is set 1' down into the concrete (or raised pathway) complete with little beach with fiddler crabs running around, and a gradually deepening tide pool with starfish, horseshoe crabs, etc. The tank would be lit with all metal halides and VHO's, and at night moonlights would kick on and the entire room would be bathed in moonlit glow. There would be a skylight in the room to focus light on the tidepool, but not on the tanks. Temp control would solely be through a/c units and heater, controlled by tank temperature sensors. The smallest wall (next to the door) would be utilized as a frag grow-out tank, and the beginning of an aquaculture business.

Now, who's got the imagination???

my tank would be about 450-500 gallons because my first tank is 90 gallons and i figure about one net to it and than another two stacked on top of those would be perfect with a little more side area.. so about 96"x22x48.

joanadam, will have to see if i can't find a camera somewhere, and then convince them they need to let me take a picture of it. they have some amasing fish in there, and of course EVERYONE is jealous of it.

i would have a gigantic tank(40,000g) with corals, fish ,inverts and everything else. they id make people pay to swim in it(obivously no sharks )but i would hae a separate tank with a few bamboo sharhs and a small school of jax! then i woul have shallow ponds with scools of yellow tangs and rescued baby sea turtles. and dont forget a puffer pool! id have another pool with puffer in it were you could learn to snuba with it. id make it open to the public so i could teach them about the ocean and how beautiful and special it is!
