I've got a sander skimmer that is constantly getting clogged by small snail shells in the output tube inside the unit.Because I've had to dismantle the thing so frequently, it just started to malfunction. The force of the water being pumped from the sump causes the aforementioned piece to come flying off, rendering the unit useless. Can I dry these parts out and superglue them together ?

Yes ..superglue is reefsafe after it cures, so if it will stay together for you then it should work. As long as you don't have to take it apart again...that could be a problem..LOL

After you apply the glue. Let it dry then soak it in water. For atleast a day.

Why? I use superglue gel in my reef all the time, there are some organics that make the skimmer go wild for an hour or so, but nothing to serious. I use it directly on the ends of SPS corals, IME, it is reefsafe even while still wet before it completely cures. I will say the bond will be better if the parts are dry when glued, but there is no need to leave it out of service for more than an hour or so.

Thanks guys, I took your advice, and everything seemed to work out okay . Problem solved. The skimmer is working fine and the now permenantly fixed piece will never have to be removed.
